We brought the bag to the Gucci boutique where I purchased it at, and the sales rep said, "the canvas bags are prone to wear and breakdown, and the breakdown of the bag after 6 months is considered NORMAL WEAR."

Not sure of others experience but I had a pair of loafer hard bottom soles replaced in 2006 at the Sommerset Collection Gucci store in Michigan for aprox. 0 and the replacement soles no longer had the Gucci stamp or logo.
